Spain : Football / Gerard Piqué considered for presidency of FC Barcelona

Gerard Piqué is considering taking the helm of FC Barcelona in the future. The current owner of FC Andorra hinted during an interview with Sky Sports in the United Kingdom (via Sport) that he was open to the idea of assuming the position in the future, although he has no intention of doing so anytime soon due to his commitments with the Kings League.

« I have been a fan of FC Barcelona since my childhood and I go to Camp Nou every Sunday. If I can help in any way, I want to do it. It’s something I feel deep down. I don’t think it’s the right time. I’m focusing on the Kings League, which is expanding », revealed the former partner of Shakira.

« You never know about the future, but it may be an option. I don’t like closing doors. Being president of Barcelona is a great responsibility, but it could have a significant impact on the club if I decided to give it a try at some point. In the future, I could explore this possibility, but not now », he continued.

The first opportunity for Piqué to run for the presidency of FC Barcelona will arise in 2026 when Joan Laporta’s term comes to an end. He would certainly be highly appreciated by the current members.
