The resurrection of TikTok in the United States thanks to Donald Trump: A unique solution to ease tensions

12 hours: that’s the time it took for TikTok to rise from the ashes in the United States. A resurrection orchestrated by Donald Trump himself.

TikTok resurfaced in the United States after an interruption of about twelve hours. The Chinese giant, which has more than 170 million American users, announced it was “in the process of restoring its service” following a surprise intervention by Donald Trump.

The former and future U.S. president demanded the return of TikTok and proposed a solution: a restructuring of the company in the form of a joint venture, where the United States would hold a 50% stake.

Although still theoretical, this solution represents an unprecedented compromise in the history of Sino-American technological relations.

It would allow TikTok to maintain its presence on U.S. soil while addressing the national security concerns frequently raised by Washington.

Let’s also recall that Donald Trump was the first to propose banning TikTok in the United States in 2020, citing security reasons.
