Togo/AES : Burkinabe, Malian, and Nigerien populations acclaim Faure Gnassingbé’s commitment to peace in their region

Since the beginning of this week, praises have been pouring in from all quarters for President Faure Gnassingbé, hailed for his unwavering commitment to diplomacy and peace in Africa, notably in the member states of the Sahel Alliance (AES), Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

Known for his deep commitment to pan-Africanism and his relentless pursuit of thoughtful diplomatic solutions, President Faure Gnassingbé has distinguished himself on numerous occasions in resolving conflicts in West Africa, particularly in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso.

When the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) raised the threat of military intervention in Niger following the events of July 26, President Faure Gnassingbé firmly advocated for a diplomatic and fraternal solution. His unequivocal support for Niger and its people has been a pillar of stability in a region plagued by uncertainty.

Similarly, in the face of sanctions imposed by ECOWAS against Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, President Gnassingbé stood on the side of reason and solidarity, passionately advocating for his struggling neighbors.

When certain ECOWAS member countries chose to close their borders and ports to Niger, Togo, under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, opened its arms and its autonomous port in Lomé, offering vital support to its distressed neighbor.

The Togolese government, while condemning coups d’état, has demonstrated that it is possible to resolve crises without resorting to violence.

These courageous and altruistic actions have earned President Faure Gnassingbé praise and recognition from the populations of the AES  . Indeed, the citizens of these three Sahelian countries have expressed their profound gratitude to Togo and its President for their unwavering support during difficult times.

Today, more than ever, President Faure Gnassingbé embodies the values of African unity and fraternity, making Togo a beacon of stability and peace in a region in search of security and prosperity.
