Togo and AES: A call for unity to strengthen sovereignty

0

Since its creation, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) has embodied the will of the peoples of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to take control of their destiny by asserting their sovereignty in the face of security and economic challenges. This historic initiative, based on values of solidarity, self-determination, and cooperation, is now an example for all of Africa.

In this dynamic, Togo, a brother country with historical, cultural, and geographical ties to the nations of the AES, has every interest in joining this strategic alliance. More than just a partnership, Togo’s membership in the AES would send a strong signal in favor of an Africa that rejects interference and is building its own model of development and security.

Togo would find in the AES a solid framework for military and diplomatic cooperation. Together, they would be stronger in securing their territory, protecting populations, and defending common interests.

Economically, the AES also aims to be a lever for endogenous development, focusing on the sovereign exploitation of resources, the enhancement of local productions, and the strengthening of intra-African exchanges. Togo’s integration would thus help expand this common market and accelerate the economic emancipation process of the region.

The time has come for nations to unite and join forces in the face of common challenges. Togo’s accession to the Alliance of Sahel States would mark a decisive step towards a stronger, more united, and truly sovereign Africa.
