Togo: Commemoration of the International Day of Peace
The Togolese branch of the International League of Women for Peace and Freedom (WILPF-Togo) organized, on Thursday, September 28 in Lomé, a sharing and exchange meeting on the theme «Acting together for the preservation of peace in the world», for the Ministry of Human Rights.
This deferred activity is part of the commemoration of the International Day of Peace, celebrated every 21 September. The objective is to bring all the staff of the Ministry in charge of Human Rights to know WILPF-Togo, its mission and its actions for peace, but also and above all to familiarize themselves with the destructive weapons of peace against which it fights.
The exchanges made it possible to bring the executives of the said ministry to understand and to have an idea on what it is that a robot killer, automated weapons and automated legal weapons.
The president of WILPF-Togo, Ms Bassiratou Idrissou-Traoré wife Djobo made it clear that the primary objective of its structure is the maintenance, culture and preservation of peace, ensuring that humanity can fight against the different types of weapons that exist, because she is convinced that without weapons there will be no more war.
«The fight against killer robots comes from countries where there is a coalition that is seriously fighting these tools of death and mass destruction. We are aware that it is not at all easy to fight against these machines that multinationals manufacture and market. We are still saying that in order to preserve peace, we must stop making these war machines» she said.
The Director of Financial Affairs of the Ministry in charge of Human Rights, Koussétou Makanawoé welcomed the initiative of this meeting which allowed them to better understand the vocation of the WILPF in general and in particular of the Togolese branch. «The doors of our department will always be wide open for the continuation of the exchanges and we promise to accompany you, so that your advocacy can have a favorable opinion», added the director.
