Togo / COP29: Togo highlights 35 projects to combat climate change
At the 29th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP29), which will take place on November 11 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Togo will present a series of 35 projects to support ecological transition and address climate challenges. These initiatives, focused on renewable energy, access to water, sustainable agriculture, reforestation, and electric mobility, aim to secure the necessary funding for their implementation through bilateral meetings with potential contributors and international financial partners.
Last week, these projects were analyzed in Lomé during a meeting between the ministry responsible for environmental protection and Togo’s partners. According to the Minister of Environment and Forestry Resources, Foli-Bazi Katari, the presented projects align with Togo’s international commitments for environmental protection and climate change mitigation, reflecting the country’s commitment to integrating sustainable practices into its development.
To strengthen its presence and maximize its funding opportunities at COP29, Togo will have a dedicated pavilion, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This pavilion will serve as a showcase to promote Togo’s initiatives, highlighting the efforts made for sustainable growth and climate change adaptation. Officials hope that this visibility will attract the attention of contributors and facilitate access to international funding.
This global meeting represents an opportunity for Togo to expand its climate partnerships and strengthen its national strategy to achieve its environmental and climate goals. Through this proactive approach, the country hopes to contribute significantly to international efforts against global warming while securing the resources needed to realize its green projects.
