TOGO: Lapaire invests in roads for better vision among users
Road accidents are mostly caused by poor vision among road users. In Togo, the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection and the Ministry of Road Transport recorded more than 7.507 cases of accidents in 2022 on the roads. Faced with this sad outcome, Lapaire aims to contribute by raising awareness among users to check their vision for their safety.
Lapaire Opticians have revolutionized access to prescription glasses in Africa. The company’s primary mission is to make prescription glasses accessible to everyone.
To achieve this, they reach out to users on the roads to encourage them to take the right steps to avoid impaired vision while driving.
«It is advisable to regularly check your vision with a professional to avoid being a victim or causing road accidents. At Lapaire, the vision test is free. Taking care of your vision is important for safe driving. With Lapaire, Good Vision = Zero Accidents», explained Jean-Pierre Akakpo-Akue, Lapaire Togo’s Marketing Manager.
The mental and physical health of the driver has a considerable impact on driving. Indeed, more than 90% of the information necessary for the driver is provided through the eyes. Therefore, good vision is essential for safe driving. Neglecting it can be a probable cause of accidents for both motorists and other road users.
Since 2018, this brand of prescription glasses has been improving people’s lives in Kenya, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Togo.
Road accidents, often perceived as unpredictable, are caused in the majority of cases by avoidable reasons: speeding, alcohol, failure to comply with traffic rules, fatigue and reduced vigilance, or the driver’s health condition.
