Togo: Lomé, New Global Hub for AI with the Artificial Intelligence Week Scheduled for March 2024

Lomé, the capital of Togo, is gearing up to host a groundbreaking event in the field of artificial intelligence. From March 19th to 23rd, 2024, the first edition of the Artificial Intelligence Week (SIA) promises to be a catalyst for innovation, knowledge, and collaboration in the AI domain in Africa.

Launched during a press dinner in Lomé, the event is initiated by the International Council of Artificial Intelligence (CONIIA), coordinated in Lomé, and spearheaded by Dr. Morris Malik Mouzou.

Under the captivating theme «AI in Togo and Africa: State of Affairs, Opportunities, and Societal Challenges», SIA 2024 will bring together renowned experts, cutting-edge innovators, and enthusiasts to explore the latest advancements, emerging trends, and societal implications of AI.

The diverse program for this special week will include conferences, roundtable discussions, and interactive workshops led by industry leaders, researchers, and prominent thinkers.

Jérôme Ribeiro, President of Human IA and co-organizer of the event, emphasized that these sessions will cover a spectrum of topics, from machine learning to robotics, addressing the ethics of AI and its societal impact.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to witness practical demonstrations highlighting innovative projects in areas such as healthcare, education, sciences, among others.

Promising startups will also have a platform to showcase their solutions and innovations to a global audience. To foster collaboration and networking, special informal meeting sessions will be organized, allowing participants to exchange ideas, share experiences, and forge connections with other key players in the AI ecosystem.

Beyond theoretical discussions, the week will feature competitions and challenges, showcasing the talent and creativity of AI developers and designers. Prizes will be awarded to the most innovative projects and remarkable advancements.

It is worth noting that the launch event was marked by the recognition of Dr. Malik Mouzou, who received the award for his commitment to democratizing AI in Africa and was named a «national ambassador» of Human IA.
