Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé deploys effective strategies to counter terrorism in the north of the country
In response to terrorist threats in northern Togo, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé has deployed comprehensive strategies to strengthen national security. Under his leadership, the government has taken proactive measures, including the military operation “Koundjouaré”, designed to repel terrorist incursions at the northern border. This operation involves the mobilization of Togolese Armed Forces to protect the population and secure sensitive areas.
In parallel, the “Emergency Program for the Savanes Region” (PURS) has been launched to address the socio-economic needs of local populations. This program aims to enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities by improving infrastructure, social services, and economic opportunities. It is part of a broader effort to prevent violent extremism by addressing the social roots of the issue.
These initiatives highlight President Faure Gnassingbé’s strong commitment to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and maintaining social peace. By combining defense and development approaches, the Togolese government ensures both the security of its people and the implementation of long-term solutions to the terrorist threat.
