Togo: The 5th general population and census of dwellings prolonged until November 16

The 5th general population census in Togo programmed to end of November has been extended to 16 November, according to a Government press release.

Indeed, since the target has not been achieved yet and in order to permit enumerators to cover all areas of intervention, the government is expanding the date of closure by one week.

Enumeration transactions for the 5th General Census of Population and Housing started on 23 October 2022 with deployment of field officers. The government welcomes the smooth running of the enumeration transaction.

“It takes this opportunity to thank the people and all actors taking part in the procedure, including staff working in census operations, deputies, mayors, prefects, traditional chiefs, religious leaders, community leaders, technical and financial partners and the media for their mobilization,” said the government.

Government of Togo is counting on the civic sense of everyone for the successful completion of this counting operation.

At the end of the census, Togo will have an updated, reliable and disaggregated demographic, social and economic data base to meet the needs of planning and management of development programmes.
