Togo : The African Muay Thai league will be held in Lomé on April 13

Lomé, the capital of Togo, will host the first African Muay Thai League on April 13, 2024, also known as Thai boxing.

The continental competition will see the participation of the best Muay Thai specialists from Nigeria, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Senegal, Benin, and Togo.

Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, is a martial art and combat sport originating from Thailand.

It is often described as the « art of eight limbs » because it involves the use of eight points of contact of the body : fists, elbows, knees, and feet. It differs from traditional boxing as it favors a more dynamic and fast-paced style, where mobility and technical precision are essential. Additionally, it differs from traditional boxing, which only utilizes punches.

Moreover, Muay Thai is a sport that emphasizes a fighting style where resilience and the ability to withstand blows are just as important as the ability to deliver them.

Lastly, Muay Thai is recognized not only for its effectiveness as a combat form but also for the physical and mental benefits it provides to its practitioners.
