As part of President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision for a healthy environment and the well-being of all, the government is relaunching the “Togo Clean” operation. After a hiatus due to COVID-19 health restrictions, this essential public health initiative is set to resume. A strategic meeting held on March 11 in Lomé, led by the Minister of Citizenship Education, Pacôme Adjourouvi, laid the foundation for an effective restart. The goal is to mobilize all stakeholders to strengthen the impact of this campaign and sustainably improve the living environment.

The discussions highlighted the current challenges related to waste management and identified tailored solutions. Recommendations emerged to optimize the coordination of efforts and intensify public awareness. “Public hygiene is everyone’s responsibility”, emphasized the minister, stressing the need for every citizen to actively engage in this collective effort.

The “Togo Clean” operation, established by the government and held on the first Saturday of every month, serves as a major tool to clean up both urban and rural areas. By relaunching this initiative, the authorities reaffirm their commitment to creating a more pleasant living environment and fostering balanced development for all Togolese citizens.
