Togo: Togolese government protects consumers by stabilizing cement prices

In a context where concerns about rising prices of various commodities are multiplying, the Togolese government stands out by taking decisive measures to protect consumers. Recently, concerns have arisen about a possible increase in cement prices, but the Ministry of Commerce has reacted quickly to ensure price stability and the well-being of citizens.

The Togolese government has sent a strong message to cement manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors, stating categorically that price increases will not be tolerated. This strong position demonstrates the government’s commitment to maintaining reasonable prices for consumers, especially in such a vital sector as construction.

The Ministry of Commerce issued a reassuring statement on Friday, saying that cement tariffs have not changed. The maximum selling prices per tonne, which are crucial for consumers, remain unchanged. This deliberate decision to maintain prices at an accessible level demonstrates the government’s desire to prevent any unfair exploitation of consumers through arbitrary increases.

The ministry also urges all industry players to strictly respect these prices throughout the territory. This measure aims to ensure that consumers, whether urban or rural, benefit from fair rates for cement, an essential building material.
