Togo : Local authorities in their roles for peaceful legislative and regional elections
The Togolese government is accelerating preparations for the upcoming legislative and regional elections scheduled for April 20th. Committed to organizing peaceful and secure elections, the Togolese executive, through the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Development of Territories, is taking multiple actions.
In a participatory approach, prefects, mayors, and community leaders are exchanging views on their roles as actors in the electoral process to ensure the success of these combined elections, a first in Togo.
In Dapaong, Sokodé, and across the entire national territory, Togolese local authorities have an important role to play during this sensitive period: managing it with humility and impartiality by ensuring compliance with the electoral code and its provisions.
For information, other meetings with various stakeholders in the electoral process have taken place, including with media professionals and key figures of the nation. The ultimate goal is to organize a peaceful election.
