Togo: Towards a national AI strategy, the government brings together experts and innovators for a week of reflection
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Digital Transformation of Togo, in partnership with the Togo Digital Agency (ATD), is organizing a major event next week to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Titled “Around Artificial Intelligence,” the event will take place from November 13 to 15, 2024, and will bring together key players from the public and private sectors, as well as representatives from civil society, both national and international.
Over the course of three days, various workshops and discussion panels will address the challenges and opportunities related to the adoption of AI in Togo. The primary goal is to foster the exchange of experiences and expertise to develop a national AI strategy, as the country strives to keep up with global technological advancements.
Among the highlights of this event, co-creation sessions will be organized, with the participation of experts who will share AI strategies adopted by pioneering countries such as Singapore, Rwanda, and Ghana. These exchanges will provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences of these nations and inspire initiatives tailored to the Togolese context.
In parallel, the 5th edition of IndabaX, organized by the Togolese Artificial Intelligence Community (COTIA), will take place. This event will highlight the latest AI innovations and offer practical workshops on technical topics, particularly machine learning. Participants will have the chance to learn about machine learning techniques and explore practical AI applications.
The event will also feature several discussion panels on key themes such as AI governance, AI applied to cybersecurity, and the role of emerging technologies in Togo’s digital transformation. These discussions will aim to identify best practices and develop recommendations for the responsible and effective adoption of AI.
For the Ministry and its partners, this initiative is part of a deep reflection aimed at equipping the country with a national AI strategy. The goal is to prepare Togo to take advantage of the opportunities offered by this technology while addressing the challenges it poses in a rapidly evolving global economy.
