Togo-Turkey: An economic partnership strengthened by continuous growth in trade

The economic partnership between Togo and Turkey, which has been strengthened through various agreements and protocols in recent years, continues to thrive. In 2023, bilateral trade between the two countries saw significant growth, reaching $300 million. This marks a 50% increase compared to 2022, as announced by the Turkish Ambassador to Togo, Muteber Kılıç, during a meeting with José Syménouh, the President of the Togo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-Togo).

This meeting provided an opportunity for both officials to discuss new avenues to intensify bilateral investments and strengthen collaboration between business operators from both nations. Ambassador Kılıç highlighted the importance of increasing trade exchanges and diversifying areas of cooperation to sustain the current growth trajectory. Discussions focused on new initiatives to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), improve access to financing, and promote the export of Togolese products to Turkey.

In this context, Ambassador Kılıç announced the upcoming arrival of a Turkish business delegation for an economic forum scheduled to take place in Aného. This event is part of a proactive effort to promote investment opportunities in Togo, offering Turkish entrepreneurs a platform to explore the local market and forge strategic partnerships. Turkish investors will have the chance to explore promising sectors of the Togolese economy, including agriculture, energy, and tourism.

It is important to note that Togo and Turkey have developed successful cooperation across several key areas, such as agriculture, trade, tourism, and industry. The joint initiatives undertaken in recent years have helped invigorate trade and increase foreign direct investment, thus strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

By further solidifying this partnership, Togo and Turkey are demonstrating their shared commitment to stimulating mutual economic growth, while fostering a favorable business environment and creating job opportunities.
