Togo: When the country considers joining the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)

Under the enlightened leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo is preparing to take a strategic step by considering joining the Sahel States Alliance (AES). This move, praised by Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Dussey, marks a decisive turning point in regional politics and demonstrates Togo’s commitment to strengthening its role in African unity and sovereignty.
The AES, composed of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, today represents the fight for a sovereign and united Africa. By joining, Togo will solidify its position as a strategic pivot for the region, offering its access to the sea and facilitating trade and logistics between the Sahelian states and the rest of the world.
Minister Robert Dussey emphasized the importance of this integration, stating that it aligns with a strong Pan-African vision and Africa’s renewed control over its destiny. This rapprochement reflects the insight and pragmatism of Togolese diplomacy, which prioritizes alliances based on mutual respect and shared development.
In the face of security and economic challenges, Togo is demonstrating its determination to stand with its African brothers in building a stable and prosperous future. Joining the AES will not only be a strategic alliance but also a powerful message to all those who believe in a united, independent, and resilient Africa.
