Tupac murder: Suspect arrested and charged 27 years later
Nearly 30 years after the facts, Tupac’s murder is finally solved. On Friday, Las Vegas police arrested a suspect linked to the deadly 1996 shooting in which the American hip-hop legend died at the age of 25. Duane «Keefe D» Davis, 60, who had admitted in the past that he was with his nephew in the Cadillac from which the shots were fired, was charged by a grand jury in Las Vegas for the murder of Tupac Shakur.
At a standstill for years, the investigation was revived in July. The Vegas police then raided Davis’s home. Why so long after? Because the suspect «incriminated» in the media in recent years by recognizing that he was present, according to the authorities.
Duane Davis is the uncle of Orlando «Baby Lane» Anderson, also a member of the Crips and key suspect in the case. Denying any responsibility, the latter died two years later in a shooting. Davis presented himself as the last survivor of the four people on board the Cadillac.
Tupac Shakur, considered one of the most influential artists in American rap, died in full glory at only 25 years old.
He was the main rival of Biggie Smalls, aka Notorious B.I.G, a rapper who died six months later in a shooting in Los Angeles. The two men embodied the sometimes violent rivalry between «West Coast» and «East Coast»
