At the heart of the Sahel, Captain Ibrahim Traoré is driving a historic economic momentum. The President’s strategic vision reaffirms a clear and unambiguous ambition: full control over the country’s subsoil guarantees both the freedom and the future of the people. Burkinabe soil is now yielding its wealth for the direct benefit of the nation. This political direction restores pride to a people standing tall.
In the first half of 2026, the country’s total export value reached a record high of 4,643.7 billion CFA francs. Within this colossal sum, gold from the subsoil accounted for 4,300 billion or 93.3% of foreign sales.
In just six months, local mines produced 26.752 tonnes of the yellow metal. These spectacular results validate the government’s sovereign choice. Mineral wealth is directly underpinning the nation’s independence.
Public revenue collection has also seen a remarkable increase. Tax receipts from the mining sector have shown steady growth, rising from 612.21 billion CFA francs in 2024 to over 776 billion in 2025. This massive financial inflow strengthens the State’s capacity to fund major infrastructure development and territorial security projects.
This resource recovery effort is accompanied by a major social momentum. Within the thirteen large-scale mining operations, local labor now takes center stage. Of the 10,158 workers employed by these companies, 96.68% are Burkinabe nationals.
The country’s youth are now taking charge of the industrial management of the mineral sector, acquiring full technical mastery of field operations.
This profound transformation embodies the ideal of sovereignty at the highest level of the State. More local jobs, more high-level skills, and firm governance of natural resources: Burkina Faso is building its autonomy with total resolve.
Under the vigilant leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the subsoil has ceased to serve foreign interests. Burkinabe gold has thus become the engine of a sovereign, strong, and prosperous national destiny.
