The Georges Namoano Military Academy on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, graduated its 16th class of Specialist Officer Cadets into the Burkinabe army. At Camp Guillaume Ouédraogo in Ouagadougou, 136 young second lieutenants officially joined the National Armed Forces during a ceremony presided over by Major General Célestin Simporé, Minister of State for War and Patriotic Defense, in the presence of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Moussa Diallo.
The class consists of 103 officers from direct competitive recruitment and 33 from the continuum complementary profiles that enrich an army in the midst of a rise in power.
What distinguishes this cohort above all is its technical diversity: 29 specialties represented, covering specialized fields whose mastery determines the operational effectiveness of a modern armed force.
In a war won as much by technology as by courage, having officers trained in specialized functions is not a luxury. It is a strategic necessity.
