Burkina Faso / President Ibrahim Traoré: A champion of development and financial innovation

Captain Ibrahim Traoré has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his country’s development. His meeting this Monday, August 28, 2023 with a delegation from the Association Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions of Burkina Faso (APBEF-B) testifies to his dedication to finding solutions to the financing problems of SME, particularly those run by young people and women.

The meeting was conceived as a constructive dialogue aimed at soliciting greater commitment from banks and financial institutions in financing entrepreneurial projects. President Traoré expressed his concern for young entrepreneurs who, despite having brilliant ideas, face the problem of insufficient guarantees to obtain financing. His vision is clear: to create a government guarantee fund that will enable sound financing of these projects.

«They need financing, but there’s a guarantee problem. I hope that we can work together to find a formula, in particular the establishment of a guarantee fund at government level to enable sound financing of these projects», declared Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

The APBEF-BF warmly welcomed this initiative, and expressed its gratitude to the Head of State for the attention given to their sector. During the meeting, the association’s representatives outlined the obstacles they face in the banking sector.

In response to their concerns, President Ibrahim Traoré pledged to take concrete steps to improve the mobility and availability of banking services throughout the country. His promise testifies to his understanding of the issues and his sincere desire to remedy them. He also praised the resilience of banks and financial institutions, and encouraged them to step up their commitment to supporting development initiatives.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership embodies the self-sacrifice and determination needed to meet the challenges facing SME in Burkina Faso.
