The Prime Minister has inaugurated a refrigerated and temperature-controlled storage warehouse with a capacity of 45,000 liters for vaccines and medical supplies.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi inaugurated a refrigerated and temperature-controlled storage warehouse for vaccines, located within the framework of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in South Darfur State.
The warehouse, with a capacity of 45,000 liters, stores vaccines and medical supplies needed for immunization programs.
Those attending the inauguration included: Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health Dr. Al-Amin Osman; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Musa Khaddam; acting head of the civil administration of South Darfur State Salah Al-Din Ahmed Ismail Al-Mawj; members of his government; officials and administrators of the EPI; and representatives of national and international organizations working in the health sector.
The Prime Minister stressed that the opening of the cold chain facility and refrigerated warehouse is an important indicator of the ongoing recovery in South Darfur State.
He noted that the facility constitutes a strategic health asset that helps strengthen the health sector and meet the vaccine needs of western Sudan.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the federal and state Ministries of Health and their partners, notably UNICEF, in completing this important project.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to developing partnerships, supporting the restoration of essential services, and creating the conditions necessary for the return of displaced persons and refugees to their areas of origin.
Al-Ta’aishi noted that the Council of Ministers had taken an important decision aimed at regulating and facilitating the work of national and international humanitarian organizations, thereby helping to strengthen the humanitarian response and support essential services.
Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health Dr. Al-Amin Othman explained that cold chain storage capacity had increased from 20,000 to 45,000 liters.
This project strengthens the health sector’s capacity to store vaccines in accordance with required standards and supports the response to emergencies and epidemics, as well as immunization programs.
The acting head of the civil administration of South Darfur State, Salah al-Din al-Mawj, affirmed the importance of this facility for supporting and developing health services in the state and the states of western Sudan. He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the partners who contributed to completing the project.
In this context, the Director-General of the Ministry of Health of South Darfur State, Dr. Mustafa Al-Barmaki, stated that the ministry is striving to support the supply of medical equipment and strengthen the capacities of the health sector.
He stressed that the state hosts and addresses the health needs of three states and thanked UNICEF and the Peace Government for their support to the health sector.
