Togo: Lambert Dameto Nayante, an agribusiness expert working to support Togolese agriculture

Expert consultant in agribusiness, Lambert Dameto Nayante, never misses an opportunity to share his experience with agricultural stakeholders in Togo and across Africa. Through his company “CALAFI,” he has committed to a concrete project to support agriculture in Togo: preparing arable land for farmers and distributing quality seeds to rural communities.

For Lambert Nayante, the challenges of Togolese agriculture are not limited to climate hazards, such as recurrent droughts. Political and institutional processes are also undergoing significant transformation, creating both constraints and opportunities for the sector.

Despite these challenges, the expert remains optimistic about the future of agriculture in Togo.

According to him, technical modernization is making the sector more accessible, notably through mechanization, irrigation, and the adoption of innovative technologies.

CALAFI’s initiative is part of a broader dynamic of agricultural transformation in Togo. Since 2025, the government has launched the Agricultural Modernization Program (ProMAT), which aims to increase productivity, strengthen the competitiveness of local products, and integrate climate issues.

This program provides for the deployment of tractors, the distribution of irrigation kits, and the creation of regional mechanization centers measures that align with the objectives pursued by Lambert Nayante in the field.

By preparing arable land and providing seeds, CALAFI directly contributes to increasing yields and improving food security for communities.

This approach complements public efforts, notably the Zero Hunger program supported by IFAD, which targets rice and cassava value chains to combat malnutrition.

Lambert Nayante also believes in the potential of digital innovation to transform Togolese agriculture. Recent initiatives, such as the Open Innovation program for agricultural technologies, show that Togo is banking on solutions tailored to local realities to improve productivity.

By sharing his expertise and involving young people in agribusiness, the expert is contributing to this dynamic of modernization and professionalization of the sector.

Beyond the technical aspect, Lambert Dameto Nayante’s commitment reflects a broader vision: that of making agriculture a lever for economic and social development for Togo.

By combining international expertise, private investment, and collaboration with local stakeholders, he is helping to build a more resilient, competitive agricultural sector capable of feeding future generations.
