Triathlon: Senegal will host the African Triathlon Championships 2023

Senegal will host the African Triathlon Championships on December 4, 2023, according to Sport News Africa. The competition will take place in Cap Skirring, a seaside resort in the south of the country, located 500 km from Dakar. The African Championships will be held in the middle-distance category (semi-Ironman), with 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling, and 21.1 km of running. This will the first time such a competition is held on the African continent with the ITU (International Triathlon Union) label, the governing body of world triathlon.

Senegal will also have the distinct honor of hosting the Regional Development Africa Cup on November 12 of this year. This new competition has been boosted by international and continental bodies and allows African triathletes to earn points in the world ranking. To this end, foreign athletes and the host country will receive financial assistance from World Triathlon, according to Sport News Africa.
